If you're an aspiring overseas worker (OFW) like millions of Filpinos, you might have to seek local employment while you are waiting for a career abroad. Sure, you may complain of low wages, lack of security of tenure due to contractualization and other common complaints on our local or domestic work environment.
However, you may need the much-needed pay as you complete several requirements for overseas deployment (such as visa, work permit, pocket money, etc.). Also, most jobs also require work experience. Hence, you may have no choice but to look for local/domestic employment.
As an unsolicited advice, any potential employee must read up on the company profile of your target employer. Why? Because you need it for your job application interview. Here's a nightmare scenario that you do not deserve to experience:
INTERVIEWER: "So what could you contribute to our company?"
APPLICANT: "I aim to be your number one seller of chocolates!"
INTERVIEWER: "Oh, but we're in the business of selling car accessories..."
See? That's why it is very important for every job seeker to acquire basic knowledge on your target employer. Below are links to company profiles of trustworthy firms that participated in the Philippine Daily Inquirer Career Expo on February 2013. It includes business process outsourcing firms (colloquially known as "call center") which forms part of the country's sunrise industries:
